A tranquil cabin escape designed for deep focus and connection with nature.

Nestled in the quiet woods of Upstate New York, Serene Retreat was designed as a sanctuary for a writer and their family. The architecture utilizes large double-glazed windows that frame the dense foliage like changing paintings. The interior design centers around wabi-sabi principles: we left the concrete floors raw and polished only with organic sealants, structural columns are made from reclaimed pine beams, and custom closets are completely integrated into the walls to eliminate visual clutter. The hearth, carved out of a solid block of local gray limestone, acts as the central anchor of the home.
